Ovens & King and Hume League Grand Finals this Saturday
Wangaratta’s WJ Findlay Oval will host the 2017 Ovens and King Grand Finals this weekend, and the Benalla All Blacks are looking to make the most of their first appearance in the last game of the football season.
After finishing the regular season in 2nd, and one place above their Grand Final rivals Glenrowan, Benalla’s Jack Ellis says there’s lot of excitement in the build up to Saturday.
"Everyone's really excited, obviously first Grand Final for many blokes, me included. There's a bit of nervous energy around, being first time, I guess, but everyone's pretty excited, pretty keen."
After 40 years of being in charge of the Hume League, Merv Wegener’s last day as President will come this Saturday with Grand Final day at Walbundrie.
Merv will be watching on as Osborne face Jindera in the football, while Brock-Burrum and the Billabong Crows vie for honours in the netball.
Meanwhile, the Ovens & Murray Preliminary Finals are being considered as home games for Yarrawonga at North Albury’s Bunton Park, with the club being represented in Seniors, Reserves and Thirds in the football, and in the A, B, C and 16’s netball.
Kylie Leslie will also play her 250th club game for Yarrawonga.
